BENÀCUS: il Garda e le sue colline negli scatti fotografici di Giorgio Attilio Mutti

 

From 18 September 2026 to 6 January 2027, the Sala del Capitano at the Rocca di Lonato del Garda hosts “Benàcus: il Garda e le sue colline negli scatti fotografici di Giorgio Attilio Mutti”, a photography exhibition curated by Costanza Lunardi and dedicated to the landscape and natural heritage of the Lake Garda area.

 

Fifty photographs taken by Giorgio Attilio Mutti (1953–2026) over the course of forty years portray Lake Garda and its morainic hills through the changing rhythm of the four seasons. Beyond the area’s most familiar landscapes, the photographs reveal a quieter side of the region, shaped by woodlands, wildflowers, birds and secluded natural views: from spring anemones and blackcaps to the cliffs of Monte Sasso and summer swifts, from autumn buzzards and the mulberry trees of Pilandro to winter hellebores and great tits.

 

The exhibition pays tribute to Mutti’s distinctive vision and his lifelong observation of the landscape, while inviting visitors to reflect on the richness and fragility of Lake Garda’s natural heritage. The exhibition is based on the photographic collection published in the volume “Benàcus mater temporis. Il lago e le colline moreniche” (2025) and has been made possible thanks to the support of the photographer’s family.
